The Electron desktop app wraps the full Workshop Wrench platform so your counter PC stays on the right app without a browser tab. Offline mode queues mutations when connectivity drops. Bay display pushes live board state to a second screen. Desktop notifications fire on RO stage changes and customer approvals.
Windows: Windows 10 / 11 required. SmartScreen warning on first run — click More info → Run anyway.
Mac: macOS 12 Monterey or later. Right-click the app → Open to bypass Gatekeeper on first launch.

Bring the stack up
Docker Engine, Postgres/Redis, shop + marketplace APIs, then the three web origins. See docs/process/electron-development-preflight.md.
Gate, then launch
pnpm dev:electron:check must report ready_for_electron. Then pnpm dev:electron starts the three shells.
Walk a playbook
Use the same demo access desk as the browser. Floor-ops overlays (stall-risk, last-unit conflict, mock SMS, digest) are in the seeded garage.
An open Electron window or a CDP listener only proves Chromium started. Run pnpm dev:electron:check before claiming the desktop stack is up.
Local packaging exists for Windows and Mac. Code signing and store distribution are not complete. Windows shows a SmartScreen warning; Mac requires right-click to open. Auto-update works on the local channel only until signing is complete.
Packaged builds pin origins. Hosted mode has no Attach URL. Appliance recovery may start an allowlisted local stack — not an arbitrary remote attach box.
SMS mock, Stripe stub, Xero dry-run — the desktop host does not make stubs Connected. Offline mode queues ops; it does not guarantee zero data loss on abnormal termination.
